Green Street Smoked Meats was born in 2014 out of the belief that Chicago was seriously in need of some Texas BBQ— specifically, the kind of backyard BBQ that gets out of hand when the entire neighborhood shows up and no one leaves until the last brisket is gone.
So they found a derelict auto shop, bought an Oyler smoker big enough to live in, added some picnic tables and stacks of post oak wood and went to work. Their pitmaster, Dave Bonner, got wind of what they were doing and migrated a thousand miles just to be a part of the fun.
And they got their wish — because now folks find them by literally following their noses to their door, just like in Texas.
This past year, Dave was awarded the Culinary Innovator of year award for 2022 by Certified Angus Beef® Brand.
